DiliTrust and PACTA Join Forces to Conquer the LegalTech Space 

At DiliTrust, we had a busy 2024 with the acquisition of U.S.-based doeLEGAL, Aster, and plenty of new feature releases. Well, 2025 has kicked off to a great start too—first with the announcement of our latest module release, Matter Management, and now with our newest acquisition.  In February, DiliTrust closed the acquisition of PACTA, a leading German CLM software solution. 

We sat down with Yves Garagnon and Nadim Baklouti, both Co-CEOs at DiliTrust, along with Marcel Horndasch and Fabian Pohl, both Co-Founders & Managing Directors of PACTA, to gather their thoughts on this exciting new venture. 

To begin with, what were the primary reasons behind this acquisition on both sides? 

Nadim Baklouti: The first and quite straightforward reason is that this strengthens our presence in the DACH market. PACTA is well-established in the region as a CLM provider. My second answer is: the people. We’re talking about four talented founders who managed to build something remarkable from scratch. Let’s face it—we’d rather have this talented team with us than competing against us. Another key factor is, of course, their product. 

Yves Garagnon: Exactly. As Nadim mentioned, PACTA has a strong reputation as a CLM provider and already has a quite impressive customer base. This acquisition will strengthen our presence in the region and accelerate our market share growth. PACTA’s product maturity definitely made it an attractive company, and we’re looking forward to continuing this journey together. Last but not least, with this acquisition, we’re also bringing invaluable skill sets to DiliTrust. As Nadim highlighted, the PACTA team is extremely talented. 

Marcel Horndasch: It’s very much the same on our end. DiliTrust has a wealth of expertise that complements our skill set perfectly. We quickly saw an opportunity to create a LegalTech powerhouse in Europe. The legal tech market in Europe is fragmented, and we knew that by joining forces with DiliTrust, we could compete on an entirely new level. 

Fabian Pohl: When DiliTrust approached us, it quickly became evident that we shared the same vision—to build the strongest legal tech platform in Europe and, why not, worldwide. The human factor is really important. From day one, we felt aligned, and that makes all the difference in a process like this. Beyond strategic alignment, the acquisition brought significant advantages for PACTA. With larger teams, bigger budgets, and well-established departments that we previously lacked; we can now scale much faster than we could have on our own. 

Yves Garagnon: Definitely, the people. Of course, there’s a business strategy behind every acquisition, but the PACTA team and founders are the key differentiator. In our sector, where tech is at the core, finding a partner with whom the vision aligns—not just in terms of product but also from a human perspective—is key. Ultimately, that synergy is what made this such an easy decision. We are complementary and, at the same time, fully in sync. 

Nadim Baklouti: It’s the full package that makes PACTA special—the talented team, the visionary founders, their product, and the way they managed exponential growth in such a short period. There was an immediate sense of trust, and that makes all the difference. 

Both solutions are advanced—how will this acquisition contribute to innovation? 

Marcel Horndasch: The acquisition accelerates innovation by combining PACTA’s agility, customer focus, and startup culture with DiliTrust’s scale, experience, and resources. The integration of AI expertise from both companies is certainly a major innovation driver. 

Fabian Pohl: Additionally, the new combined platform will incorporate the best functionalities from both systems, resulting in a more advanced and seamless LegalTech solution. 

Yves Garagnon: That’s right. PACTA brings a top-tier solution that, once integrated with ours at DiliTrust, will strengthen our CLM offering. Their CLM has a host of great features that will help us deliver an even more comprehensive and powerful software to the market. 

Any other interesting notes or anecdotes to add? 

Nadim: I will say that this acquisition was smooth from day one. We didn’t encounter any major challenges with PACTA—the cultural fit was obvious from the start. This marks our third acquisition since 2024, which is quite a pace, but I believe it reflects the dynamics of the market we operate in. It truly highlights the leadership position we hold at DiliTrust and our ability to consolidate across multiple geographic regions. 

Marcel: The signing took place in one of Berlin’s most beautiful locations, with the historic German Cathedral as an impressive backdrop—definitely a memorable moment. As Nadim pointed out, the whole process was seamless, and the atmosphere was anything but stiff. 

Yves: To wrap it up, the way PACTA and DiliTrust complement each other—beyond the product—made this partnership feel completely natural. That connection played a huge role in making this project come together so smoothly. We’re truly looking forward to building on this collaboration!
